The bellowing sound is also made by a bull moose generally in response to the wail of a cow moose. At this time of the season, it is very common to hear the sounds of grunting and raking bushes of a bull moose. It searches for the female moose for the purpose of breeding. The last reported incident occurred on June 28, 2022.The bull moose are most vocal during rutting season. Upon seeing them, the visitors turned to walk away from the bison. The female was walking with another individual in a field in front of the Lake Lodge when they saw two bison. ![]() A 47-year-old female from Phoenix, Arizona, was gored by a bison near the Lake Lodge Cabins on the north shore of Lake Yellowstone the morning of July 17.
